Hello World
I finally started a blog. It's taken me years to get here, mostly because I couldn't figure out what I'd actually write about. Writing feels like it should be for people who have something important to say, and I'm not sure that's me.
But I do write. I write long emails. I write detailed Slack messages that probably should've been blog posts. I write notes in the margins of books I'm reading. I write fragments in my phone when I'm thinking about something. So maybe the problem isn't that I don't have things to say. Maybe the problem is I've been waiting for the perfect moment to start, and perfect moments don't exist.
This blog will probably be a mix of things. Some posts about backend systems and cloud architecture, since that's what I do for work. Some posts about books I've read and why they matter. Some posts about coffee, or music, or why people believe what they believe. Some posts that are just me thinking out loud about something that's been bothering me.
I'm not going to promise a schedule. I'm not going to promise that every post will be brilliant. I'm just going to try to write things that are true and honest, the way I'd explain something to a friend over coffee. If that sounds interesting to you, welcome. If not, that's fine too.
Let's see where this goes.
